Rio San Juan and Solentiname Islands

San Juan River is a real adventure throughout historical sites, ethnic communities and towns, that will captivate you with their fascinating routine in the jungle, that can include alligators, real shad, river shrimp, countless birds, crafts and affable people. Indio Maíz Reserve, located in Rio San Juan area, is characterized among the best preserved natural reserves and considered one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems in the world.

The Solentiname Islands in Lake Nicaragua is a group of 36 islands which are tropical heaven, covered in lush vegetation and home to at least 76 bird species, including a great variety of parrot and toucan species. The waters around the islands are teeming with 46 fish species, including the much sought-after tarpon. 

 

Tour Day 1. Private boat ride starts from Castillo town. Journey takes you  along the river San Juan to the Indio Maíz Reserve.  Reserve it's a paradise for nature lover, and has over 300 species of birds and it's a home  for monkeys, caimans and many other exotic animals.

Tour Day 2.  Private boat leaves from San Carlos town to Solentiname Islands.  Tour takes you to the local art museum, artists workshops and the Zapote island which is a home to 80 bird species and it has amazing wild life.
