Chinandega

 Located in the northwest of Nicaragua, Chinandega has preserved its historical heritage while embracing modernity. In Chinandega city colonial buildings and the contemporary structures coexisting side by side. Chinandega's landscapes vary from spectacular volcanoes, peaceful beaches, mangrove forests, estuaries and lush agricultural fields, to historic towns, breathtaking landmarks and wonderful natural attractions. El Realejo and Corinto are known as the two most historic towns.  Places of interests are San Cristobal volcano, the incredible bird life in the wetlands, the cliffs of Mechapa beach and the Islands de Cosiguina where you can do a relaxing tour on a boat.

Tour Day 1.  Visit to the famous Nicaraguan rum producer Flor de Caña rum distillery. You’ll get to see firsthand how the rum is crafted, the intricate aging process, and learn about the history and tasting.  And of course, no tour is complete without a tasting session! Afternoon lunch and visit the local markets.

Tour Day 2.  Guanacaste National Park walking tour. There are flowing rivers, vibrant flora, and fauna in their natural habitat. The Guanacaste National Park provides a unique opportunity to see the tropical dry forests, savannas, and mangroves.
